Practical version: before designing a campaign, write down who your audience already listens to, and go and find one.

The corollary is discipline. When someone offers to add an unrelated cause to your campaign, the answer is no — not because the cause is wrong, but because the campaign is not about it.

Replace judgement of persons with description of practices. 'People who eat meat are complicit' loses the room; 'here is what happens in a farrowing crate' keeps it.
