Strategy matters more than sincerity
Every organisation in this space is sincere. What varies is theory of change: corporate policy campaigns, legislative work, institutional food procurement, alternative-protein research, sanctuary and rescue, public education, and legal defence all operate on very different timescales and cost structures. Independent evaluators have repeatedly found order-of-magnitude differences in cost-effectiveness between these categories, with corporate campaigns and protein research typically scoring highest and individual rescue lowest on a per-animal basis — while rescue work delivers value that per-animal metrics do not capture.
